Senior Associate, Investment Operations

Information:

Investment Operations (IO) is responsible for the ongoing maintenance of all assets post trade execution across our investment verticals. This includes Security Master, Data & Pricing, and Asset Servicing. The team is also responsible for managing Client Account Transitions for new, retired or transferring accounts. Investment Operations services Middle Market Loans in an Agency role, and also oversees all cash and par reconciliations.

Investment Operations works closely with Traders, Portfolio Management, Counterparties, Trustees, Custodians, Agent Banks, Investors and other Support Teams.

Primary Function & Essential Responsibilities:
  • Provide inquiry and operational support to internal and external clients on complex, high risk asset servicing functions.
  • Proactively engage with, resolve a broad range of questions for, and carry out processing work to resolve a variety of requests for internal and external clients.
  • Track and conduct research using internal and external sources to respond to, and resolve, complex inquiries and issues.
  • Daily monitoring and reconciliation of managed accounts between firm’s accounting systems and external custodians
  • Liaise between portfolio managers, traders and trustees for all portfolio-specific activity and issues, ensuring cross-communication of critical information between firm departments.
  • Ensure maintenance of administrative records for each account.
  • Participate in special projects such as technology advancements.
  • Discover, research and resolve transactional and valuation discrepancies 
  • Help to maintain GIPS compliant composites and work with Independent verification firm for quarterly composite verifications.
  • Ensure daily checks and reviews are completed and that any discoveries are fully researched and resolved on a daily basis. 
Skills & Abilities:

Experience Required:

  • Minimum two to five years of investment management operations experience
  • Experience working with CLOs, CDOs, hedge funds or private equity a plus
  • Understanding of basic accounting theories

Knowledge Required:

  • Knowledge of Bank Loans
  • Knowledge of settlement processes (DTC/Clearstream) for Bonds, Structured Credit, Derivatives (PAS) and FX
  • Working knowledge of Wall Street Office
  • Knowledge of Advent-Geneva & Everest BlackMountain
  • Knowledge of Bloomberg, DTCC LoanServ and Markit Clear initiatives
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel – knowledge of formulas a must (e.g. “vlookup, pivot tables”), Microsoft Outlook, and Microsoft Word

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university in Finance or related discipline
